KONSUMERISME – BOIKOT PRODUK YAHUDI, BERAPA JAUH?

Kita sedia maklum sebelum ni tersebar tentang kempen boikot produk yahudi.

Aku lagi suka Darlie. Produk lain pun banyak yang setanding. Sebenaqnya isu bagi aku susah nak boikot semua sebab alternative kurang. Aku boleh boikot KFC, pastu hangpa nak suruh aku pi Marrybrown? Buang duit. Aku ni konsumer, tapi kalau nak suruh aku buang duit pi Marrybrown, baik aku melantak ayam KFC je. Jadi, aku harap lepas ni Radix Fried Chicken boleh jadi alternatif betul-betul kepada KFC.

Cerita rokok pulak. Kita ketepikan isu haram halal. Nak suruh orang Islam buat rasa berdosa pulak.

Lagi satu, cip komputer Intel.

Tu business risiko depa la tak banyak research masa nak start business.

Jadi kesimpulannya, kalo boleh elak, elaklah.

  2. my fellow kopite, thanks for the response. you'll have the whole comment's page to bash me back, but let me tell my side first. i'll not response again after this.
firstly, you have gone a bit far for saying i encouraged the boycott. well, there
are two sides of the coin here. if you read carefully, the article was really about having second thoughts over boycotting entirely. not blatantly calling for full boycott.

i know whatever i say here won't change the situations (that's why we name it "priory of jenin"), but would it be nice to have independently set-up fast-foods and kebab houses rather than 2-3 big multi's to choose from? would it be nice if the franchisee have thoughts of developing their own brands rather
than relying on much controversial brands?

maybe we come from different backgrounds, and i prefer the idea of sharing the wealth. again, i dont impose this idea to you, it's entirely up to you to sit where do you want.

well i slammed khalid ibrahim because PKR got enough sticks from our BN friends for being 'western puppets/allies'. saying such things will make things worst. people's perception will be 'they are protecting their big bosses'. and if im not mistaken this was said during an event to honour the palestinians. wrong place at the wrong time. if i work as a spindoctor, i'd highlighted this again and again and again. no matter how true it is, many people will believe this as 'the truth'. YB Nizar has experienced this.

also, if that's your favourite quote, then i'd say we need to stop fighting BN 'cause the downfall of their government means changes for many thousands lives, from councillors, ketua kampung, secretaries, umno-linked contractors, etc, etc. if you count all of them that will be thousands as well. let's buy utusan msia, let's watch tv3 because at the same time they create jobs (arghh.. what a cliche). also to be frank, i would tell these people the same; why bother working for such evils? what more contributing money for killing innocents?

let me be clear, I JUST DONT HAVE THE GUTS TO BOYCOTT THEM ALL, but for someone else to do this is all justifiable. somebody's got to do what they gotta do.

that's why before writing this article i hope nobody would ever touch the issue just the way you did. it will be a neverending issue. we are talking grey area here. nobody's exactly right.

(also worth noted i spoke to a manager of a chain coffee house brand. she said the recent boycott campaign doesnt really have impact on their employees, only the profit margin is less. the credit crunch now is more dangerous).
